About the Procedure
What is Haemorrhoid Artery Embolisation?
Haemorrhoid embolisation is a minimally invasive procedure that targets the blood vessels responsible for haemorrhoid development.
It is suitable for patients who experience bleeding from internal haemorrhoids and prefer to avoid more invasive options such as haemorrhoidectomy, stapling surgery, or rubber band ligation.
The procedure is an outpatient procedure, meaning you are able to go home on the same day. It is performed at the Interventional Radiology suite at Liverpool Hospital and Southwest Private Hospital.
During the procedure, Dr Osman will insert a small catheter into an artery and navigate it through the body to reach the rectal artery. Coils are then placed in the artery to cut off the blood supply to the haemorrhoid.
